Rusnak Auto Group Reports Data Breach Impacting Sensitive Consumer Data

Rusnak Auto Group, a Pasadena-based luxury car dealer, disclosed a data breach incident to the Attorney General of California on November 16, 2023. The breach involved unauthorized access to the company’s computer network, compromising consumers’ sensitive information, including their full names and Social Security numbers.

Following the discovery, Rusnak initiated an investigation into the incident, securing its systems and collaborating with third-party cybersecurity experts to assess the breach’s scope. The investigation confirmed unauthorized network access between June 13, 2023, and June 16, 2023. Subsequently, it was determined that certain accessed files contained confidential consumer data.

Upon recognizing the exposure of sensitive consumer information, Rusnak Auto Group conducted a review to identify the leaked information and impacted individuals. This review concluded on September 29, 2023, revealing that compromised data may encompass names and Social Security numbers, albeit varying for each affected individual.

On November 16, 2023, Rusnak commenced the dissemination of data breach notification letters to affected parties, providing details about the compromised information specific to each victim.

Rusnak Auto Group, known for its specialization in luxury car brands and operating across 14 locations in and around Pasadena, offers vehicles from prestigious manufacturers like Audi, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, and others. With an employee count exceeding 800, the group records an annual revenue of approximately $169 million.
