Adams Bank & Trust Reports Data Breach, Prompting Consumer Notification

Adams Bank & Trust (ABT) notified the Attorney General of Maine about a recent data breach that compromised the bank’s computer system, allowing unauthorized access to consumers’ sensitive information. Affected data includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account details, payment card information, and government-issued identification. ABT initiated the distribution of data breach notification letters to impacted individuals following their investigation.

The breach, detected on May 16, 2023, prompted ABT to secure its network, engage law enforcement, and conduct an investigation. Although initially no evidence suggested data access or acquisition, on September 15, 2023, ABT confirmed that hackers had removed information from compromised files accessed between May 15 and May 16, 2023.

Upon realizing the exposure of sensitive consumer data, Adams Bank & Trust scrutinized the breached files to identify the leaked information, subsequently dispatching breach notification letters on November 15, 2023, outlining the compromised data pertaining to affected consumers.

Based in Ogallala, Nebraska, Adams Bank & Trust provides banking services encompassing personal and business accounts, loans, credit cards, mortgages, auto loans, and investment products across 21 branches in Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas.
